In honor of International Day of Happiness last week we spoke to two fashion bloggers, Martin Salomon Jr and Olivia Laura and asked them to tell us about their favorite wardrobe pieces that make them happy when they wear it…

New York: Martin Salomon Jr.

A few days ago I got asked this question: “What are your favorite pieces in your wardrobe that make you feel happy when you wear them?” I must say that it has to be a black leather jacket, black denim jeans, and a great pair of Chelsea boots. All three of these pieces work together and they make me feel happy and confident because I mainly look and feel like a rockstar!

For as long as I can remember, my style has always been a little bit edgy and that’s thanks to my father. As a kid I used to dress up in the best leather jackets that I could find to impress my father. He’s a badass and has always been “goals.” Basically, what I’m saying is that I feel close to my dad when I dress the way he used to dress. It’s a piece of him that I’ll always carry. Whenever I wear a leather piece from my closet, I receive compliments! Those compliments really make me feel better about myself because I feel as if I’m making my father proud.

Over the years, I’ve learned my style and learned how to find timeless pieces that not only look great but really help add that extra-bit of confidence that I need.

My question for you is: “What’s the perfect wardrobe piece in your closet? How does it make you feel? If you haven’t yet found that piece, keep looking. Once you find it, hold onto it and never let it go.

Cheshire, UK: Olivia Laura

Every girl needs a good blazer in her wardrobe and this tailored piece is the perfect addition. The pearl buttons add a nice little girly detailing to play down the masculinity of a blazer. My favourite way to wear blazers is to dress up an otherwise casual outfit like this, with a simple pair of jeans, a basic tee and some Vans for the perfect combination of androgynous and girly chic. A black blazer is so versatile and will never go out of fashion; I’d be lost without one!
