We got the chance to see behind-the-scenes at the the Fyodor Golan Spring Summer 2017 presentation during London Fashion Week.
Established by Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman in 2011, Fyodor Golan is a relatively young label but with plenty of critical acclaim already behind it. Both designers come from a fine art background, something that shines through in their work. Their designs are intricate and detailed, using interesting techniques and technology to create new-age textiles, 3D embroideries and experimental textures. Often the Fyodor Golan silhouettes are bold and unique, combining a futuristic sportswear aesthetic with sophisticated geometrical shapes. Where might you have seen them before? Most recently their pink rave coat graced the 2016 VMA stage on the shoulders of pop princess Arianna Grande.
For their SS17 presentation, textiles ranged from holographic to intricate neon lace, there was frilled denim everywhere, and the beauty look for the showcase was what can only be described as futuristic; pointed, framed nails, bleached eyebrows, and metallic cupid bow adornments. Hair was dyed in a multitude of delightful brights, from spearmint green to icy blonde, or braided and finished with painted beads. It was a wonderful mash-up of 90s references and futuristic details; a mixture of rave and sophistication.
