The first weekend of Coachella saw some of the most stylish LA inhabitants head into the desert for the worlds most renowned festival.
Coachella isn’t just famous for it’s incredible line-ups (Guns N Roses, Calvin Harris, Lorde, Major Lazer, Sia were all performing this year) but also for the amazing festival style of it’s revelers. This year was no exception to the rule as celebrities, bloggers and general festival-goers alike dressed up in their finest boho gear to celebrate in the sun. Check out the selection of our favorite outfits and trends we saw at Coachella 2016. Take note for the rest of the festival season…
The cover-up du jour was floaty, below the knee, and light enough to stuff into your backpack or cross-body bag. Even if your outfit is more down-town LA than festival field, these breezy additions can add some instant Boho to your look. If you are feeling brave, copy Millie Mackintosh and turn yours into a midriff-bearing top.
Whether as a jacket tied lazily around your waist, or full on top to toe (a la The Weekend and Bella Hadid), denim is a perennial festival favorite. For a classic summer look, do like fashion blogger Sincerely Jules and pair denim cut-off shorts with a white hippy blouse and decorative cross-body bag (super tanned legs optional).
The hat of choice this year was definitely the fedora. Seen on style mavens and celebs alike, this wide-brimmed beauty added some cowboy cool to many an outfit. Pair with denim or suede for added style points or kick the western influence up a notch and add some cowboy boots.
Not in the mood for a hat but want to get in on the interesting head-gear action? Check out some of the hat alternatives from these stylish festival-goers for some head adornment inspiration. From bunny ear headbands to floral tiaras, there was a head piece to suit all styles.
Probably one of the biggest trends from this year’s festival was the abundance of white. Everyone and anyone was seen rocking this seasons color of choice and it was perfect against the Coachella backdrop of sunsets and palm trees. For the ultimate in festival white look out for lace detail, crochet and ruffles. Too girly? Just add ankle boots and a leather jacket.
Some fashionistas made things a bit more Navaho and created their festival looks using a mix of neutral suedes, earthen colored tie-dye pieces, and plenty of fringing. For a full on desert queen look, add beautiful beaded jewelry or brave some flared trousers.
Got some festivals coming up? Why not buck the trends and do your own thing like these stylish ladies? Rock a suitably girly gingham dress with some converse or if casual is more your thing, grab your boyfriend’s varsity jacket to edge up a feminine outfit. Honorable mention to this desert trio for mixing khaki and black to create the perfect antidote to all the festival white.
