We like to think of the RED community as one big family – or one big global family should we say? And families know everything about each other don’t they? So we’ve decided to do a short series of blog posts that introduce you to some of the key personnel who work at RED, what they’re like and how they bring RED to life.

So without further ado, let us introduce you to Brett Delport who is in charge of Lead Sales at Radisson RED, Cape Town…

Please tell us a little more about yourself:

I worked for a company called Cirque du Soleil as an aerialist (Trapeze) for 7 years, and throughout that time touring the world, we stayed in plenty of hotels as you can imagine. It is when I finished with Cirque du Soleil that I started my career in the hotel industry as Guest Relations as I still wanted to be in an environment where I could work around multicultural people and languages…I then worked my way through Front office to Sales & Marketing. My favorite part of what I do is dealing with people on a daily basis on different platforms. I love working to deliver the end product of a flawless guest experience whilst working with my client base and all to a common goal! Although I left show business… I still feel to some extent that I am on stage 😉

I love the inspiration from ART, MUSIC, and FASHION and that really resonates nicely with me and my lifestyle.

Why RED?

After working for another hotel group, I wanted to work for a brand of hotel that I could sincerely and relentlessly relate to. I always had to hide my tattoos and piercings and put on a suit and pretend to be someone who I really wasn’t. With RED I can really embrace myself and work with a team of people whom really live “Being the You-ést YOU” I love the inspiration from ART, MUSIC, and FASHION and that really resonates nicely with me and my lifestyle.

 What does your role involve? 

As Lead Sales, my role involves business development from both local as well as international key accounts and local DMC’s. I work on tactical, static and dynamic agreements ensuring that the hotel is getting as much market share possible from all the agents and bookers that actually book travel to Cape Town. Besides this, it’s also important being a new brand that I educate the market about what RED stands for and what our guests can expect when staying with a Radisson RED.

I LOVE talking to guests when we have mutual interests such as surfing, outdoor activities or nightlife.

How will you bring RED to life? 

I think this has more to do with living the brand personally.  I think that I am pretty “RED” anyway, so again…. just be true to yourself, put the guest first and it will work. I LOVE talking to guests when we have mutual interests such as surfing, outdoor activities or nightlife.

Favourite space in the hotel and why? 

I love the Hi All Gallery because it has got beautifully high ceilings and the floor is awesome to skateboard on 😉

Who would you most like to welcome to the hotel and why?

I would love to welcome vocalists Adele or Harry Styles….. I think they would be able to connect the venue really well with their style of music and sense of dress and I am also sure we have great acoustics….. Acapella anyone?

If you’re not at the hotel where will we find you?

Somewhere outdoors for sure! Either in the ocean or in the mountains somewhere… I am a summer baby so especially enjoy the outdoors when it is hot outside 😊

Top tip for experiencing the real Cape Town.

Stay at RED! We 100% embrace the local aspects of Cape Town. Stay away from the generic site-seeing trip and really try and dive into where the locals hang out. We are a friendly bunch so happy to offer recommendations to our guests!
