Meet the Scottish ceilidh band going global with their Celtic take on modern music. Fresh from a tour that took them to the Far East, Bahookie are back in their homeland and ready to rock a wedding near you!

They’re raw, they’re rugged and they make your average Scottish ceilidh look like a rave. Fresh from a tour of Indonesia and a near sell-out gig at the O2 ABC in their hometown of Glasgow, Bahookie have been giving us the inside track on what this Celtic rock band is all about.

Bahookie is…

Scottish for your bum or posterior! Our sound is all about blending folk, dance and rock tunes. Faithless, Foo Fighters or Treacherous Orchestra are our go-to bands for inspiration to get the creative juices flowing for new ideas.

Let’s get together…

Scotty started the band about 16 years ago as a ‘trad’ ceilidh band with an accordion, guitar and drums. Neil subsequently joined on acoustic guitar and after recording the debut album, we decided to go for a bigger, more rockier sound so we added a bass and fiddle. The rest, as they say, is history.

Winners

We knew we were on to a good thing with Bahookie’s sound the first time we introduced a sample of ‘Breathe’ by The Prodigy into a ceilidh dance. There was a huge reaction from the crowd and that’s when we knew we were onto a winner.

Location, location, location…

We’re really fortunate to have travelled the world as a band. We’ve performed in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat to name a few but our favorite location has to be Jakarta, Indonesia for the fantastic people, food and beers!
